The Royal Photographic Society, one of the world’s oldest photography societies, will exhibit the best of the society’s Visual Art Group member’s work at the Soldiers of Oxfordshire Museum, Woodstock, from 6th December 2022 to 16th February 2023.
The Visual Art Group is the second largest of the RPS special interest groups, with roots going back to 1921, with nearly a thousand members around the world. Though an exhibition of RPS member’s work, the selection of photography will be on show to the public, with everyone welcome.
The Visual Art Group photography on display covers all types and styles of photography, and a wide variety of subject matter from still-life, landscape and architecture to portraiture and macro, with or without in-camera techniques and post-processing.
Andreas Klatt ARPS, Chairman of the RPS Visual Art Group, 2017 - 2021 explains,
‘It was Year 2 of the Pandemic when we decided to try and avoid the pitfalls of public health risks by offering an alternative format for our annual print exhibition. So we invited all members of the Visual Art Group to submit three high-res digital images. And to move us out of our comfort zone, all entries were to be in square format only. This then, in our centenary year, would be the printed exhibition.
To our delight the response was resounding. We received a record number of entries. I hope you will be just as impressed as we have been. Think square!’
The exhibition will be displayed in two halves, from 6th - 16th December 2022, before the museum closes over the Christmas/New Year break, then resumes from 9th January to 16th February 2023.
