Witnesses sought after pedestrian dies following M40 crash near Banbury

A lorry collided with a man in the early hours of yesterday morning.

The man - who's believed to be in his 40's - was pronounced dead at the scene between junctions 13 - 12.

A spokesperson from West Midlands Ambulance Service said: "Police were on scene and had started CPR on a man who had been found in the carriageway next to a bridge. A paramedic officer arrived shortly afterwards. Sadly, there was nothing that could be done to save the man."

Police are appealing for anyone with dash cam footage to come forward. 

A spokesperson for the Warwickshire Police Serious Collision Unit said: "This was a tragic incident in which a man has sadly lost his life. My thoughts are with his family and friends at this difficult time.

"The investigation is ongoing and we're appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident, or anyone else with information to get in touch."

Anyone with information should contact Warwickshire Police on 101 quoting incident 27 of 12 August 2019.

The man's next of kin has been informed and police are awaiting formal identification.
